12-Step Meetings
The Hope Center hosts Alcoholics Anonymous meetings every Saturday from 9:30 am - 10:30 am. These meetings are sponsored by CAAPS(Cocaine and Alcohol Awareness Program). You can view CAAPS website by selecting the following link: http://www.caapincorporated.com/.
The 12-Step model involves:
The first 12-Step meeting was Alcoholics Anonymous. The program works by holding regular meetings, sponsorship, and working through 12 steps that are described as a spiritual approach to recovery.
The 12-Step model involves:
- admitting that one cannot control one's addiction or compulsion;
- recognizing a higher power that can give strength;
- examining past errors with the help of a sponsor (experienced member);
- making amends for these errors;
- learning to live a new life with a new code of behavior;
- helping others who suffer from the same addictions or compulsions.
