The counseling services approach is biblical in that we understand the nature of man is that of a sinner, resulting in sin (Romans 3:23). Left to his own devices, man will naturally turn to the things of sin to satisfy his basic God-given needs. We were created by God to have our needs met through Him. Our continued attempts to meet our needs apart from God results in failure. Choosing to not accept God's son Jesus for salvation, through whom we are reconciled to and have peace with God (Romans 5:1), results in death, spiritual death now (which we are born into), and physical death eventually. We believe that Christ is our answer (John 14:6). Once we trust Christ as our Savior (Acts 16:31), we must follow Him (Matthew 16:24), and surrender our will to Him so that He can live His life through us (Galations 2:20). Counseling works to uncover how we may be continuing to try and meet our needs through ourselves, things, other people, etc., rather than through Christ. Christ, through the Holy Spirit, indwells us at the point of Salvation (Acts 2:38; 1 Cor. 3:16). This Spirit is everything we need, all the power we need, and the strength we need to follow Christ (John 14:25; Acts 1:8) . Counseling works to help us see how to yield to Him our desires, our efforts, and our lives.
